Viral marketing at its weirdest, wildest and most elaborate

In 2008, BMW generated an ambitious faux documentary for their BMW 1-Series that involved the imaginary town of Oberpfaffelbachen, Germany, and the construction of a giant ramp that was intended to literally launch the vehicle across the Atlantic Ocean to the U.S. Not only did this viral video receive millions of views, but it also made news around the world. This campaign goes to show you that there is no script or set rules for being successful in viral marketing.
